Peter Lion had been inclined towards writing from a very early age. During his growing up years in Connecticut he was seen dabbling in poetry and also wrote a number of short stories. His talent within this field was further perfected when after joining the Notre Dame High School in Connecticut he soon began contributing to the students school newspaper.
He set out to make a career of his passion for the words by first acquiring a degree in Journalism from the Southern Connecticut State University. He published his first magazine article inside the Hartford Magazine before he graduated with his journalism degree.
He ventured to the television business even before he’d completed his college. A couple of months before graduation, Peter Lion took up a job with WTNH-TV as part time graphics operator. This television channel was an affiliate with the ABC network and was based out of New Haven. Peter Lion though, had no experience in this field grabbed this opportunity to gain an entry and to create a foothold in the news and television industry.
He learned the ropes quickly, comprehending the technicalities in the workings of the television network and remained a part of the channel for more than a time period of two years.
He then transferred to Boston and started working with WSBK as a Technical Director. He worked on several projects, his major one being the Boston Red Sox Baseball and Boston Bruins Hockey. Nevertheless, his desire to be in television and his passion for writing pulled him back to his home state as part of a small television station start-up.
He joined this team to be a director and a technical director with the 10 PM news cast, that was to become the first within the state. He grabbed this chance of exhibiting his talent and knowledge as in his stint in Boston he has had the opportunity of working with several accomplished directors. He used this understanding to build the show from the beginning.
Peter Lion relocated to Pittsburg and joined KADA TV after completing two years with this start up. In his stint with this television network, he exploited the many elements of his expertise and worked as a weather anchor, announcer, news producer, feature producer and director. Then he moved back to Connecticut and was a part of ESPN sports network. Still a part of ESPN, he’s in charge of a variety of their shows like Sports Centre as well as the NFL Draft as part of his position in the organization as a Director. His main show however, remains, College Gameday.
He has been a 2 time winner of the Emmy awards, although he’s been nominated many times for his contribution in the television industry. He got his first Emmy for his work with Sports Centre and received his second Emmy for the show NFL countdown.
Besides working, Peter Lion is presently focusing on his second book. He’s additionally a part of a band that goes by the name of Cheaper than Therapy” and is its lead singer and guitarist
